Career-shaping green energy news you need to watch

Hey,
Welcome to Green Jobs Rising!
If you want to stay ahead in your green career search, you need to know which companies are making big moves.
These projects often lead to hiring sprees, so keep tabs on these developments and the organisations driving them.
Ampersand Energy just secured $7 million from British International Investment and partners to grow its electric motorcycle fleet, battery swap network, and charging infrastructure in the region. This expansion means more affordable, cleaner transport for riders and a stronger push toward low-carbon mobility. As the network grows, so will opportunities for mechanics, battery technicians, and local assembly teams.
In Egypt, authorities are in talks with China’s BYD to build a full-scale EV manufacturing plant. The plan includes battery production and solar panel manufacturing, a setup that would make Egypt a hub for green tech production in North Africa. With the supply chain kept closer to home, this could spark thousands of skilled and semi-skilled jobs.
BasiGo, already running 100 electric buses in Kenya and Rwanda, is scaling up to 1,000 buses by 2027. Backed by political support for e-mobility, the company is targeting 300 new production jobs in Kenya alone, assembling 20 buses each month to meet strong demand.
Oando Clean Energy is preparing to roll out Africa’s first solar module assembly line with an integrated panel recycling facility. Backed by its 1.2 GW solar project in partnership with Nigeria’s Rural Electrification Agency, operations on the first 600 MW line will begin in 2026, creating a new market for local solar manufacturing jobs.
Funding is also flowing into large-scale solar: Burkina Faso secured €17.2 million for an 18 MWp solar plant in Dédougou, while Ethiopia signed deals for 400 MW of new solar capacity with the International Solar Alliance. Both projects will bring cleaner, cheaper power to communities and open new doors for renewable energy jobs.
Cenntro Inc is partnering with Moroccan EV distributor Electricove Maroc to assemble fully electric commercial vehicles locally. By supplying assembly kits for models like the Teemak and LS450, Cenntro is helping Morocco grow a homegrown $6.18 million tender for a hybrid solar-diesel plant with battery storage in Guerguarat. Once built, it will reduce diesel reliance and create construction and operations jobs in the renewable sector.
Schneider Electric has renewed its collaboration with Enactus to train Egypt’s university students in sustainable energy innovation. This initiative equips the next generation with practical skills, preparing them for careers in green technology.
The Supreme Energy Council in Egypt, has approved energy and infrastructure for 14 new industrial projects, including solar glass factories and ammonia plants. This expansion will attract investment, boost output, and create hundreds of industrial jobs.
Ethiopia has signed deals for 400 MW of new solar capacity with the International Solar Alliance. This step toward energy diversification will improve electricity access and create opportunities for technicians, installers, and maintenance teams.
Keep following these companies. They're career-launching platforms.
Every project you track brings you closer to opportunities.
In this fast-growing clean energy space, visibility leads to opportunity.
Cheers!
We have to start mapping out that future, showing it to young people, and showing it beyond our typical circles in urban areas,
