Breaking down Recruiter tips

Ever heard the phrase, “Stay in the corridors until the doors open”? Yeah, one of the recruiters we spoke to earlier this month dropped this gem, and honestly, in the job-searching pool, I have not heard anything so true.

If you're out here job hunting, whether fresh out of college or have been at it for a while, don’t sit waiting. Do something, anything! I’ve seen young people selling products on the streets, running cybercafés, flipping items online, you name it. A few weeks ago, I asked a recruiter: If you had to choose between a candidate who’s been hustling and one who stayed home waiting for an opportunity, who would you pick?

Her answer?: Oh, definitely the one who’s been doing something!

Even if what you're doing right now isn’t exactly what you studied or what you see yourself doing long-term, you’re still picking up skills. And guess what? That makes you stand out. The person sitting and waiting? Not so much.

So, don’t stress about where you are right now, every little thing you do is part of your journey. When applying for entry-level jobs, recruiters aren’t expecting a two-page rĂ©sumĂ©. What they are looking for is someone adaptable, eager to learn, and excited to grow. If you can show them you understand their company and why they need you, you’re already ahead of the game.

Apply with confidence, hype up your skills, and show them why you belong there. Who knows, you might just be the next feature in our “New Hire” spotlight!
