Access to clean energy is a game-changer, reducing reliance on traditional fuels, improving health outcomes, and driving sustainable economic growth. Africa is now turning its head towards sustainable solutions and one young professional leading the charge is Brian Onyango.

Brian is a passionate climate change advocate, clean cooking champion, and energy expert with over nine years of experience in renewable energy. He is an energy consultant in the biomass sector, clean cookstoves, solar lanterns, and clean fuel briquettes, committed to making sustainable energy accessible to underserved communities.

As the founder of Usafi Green Energy Limited, Brian is driving real change by manufacturing clean cookstoves and briquettes while distributing solar products to Kakuma refugees and marginalised communities in Kenya’s arid and semi-arid regions. He also serves as the Chairman of the United Briquettes Producers’ Association of Kenya (UBPA), where they work with experts to advocate for clean energy solutions and influence energy policies.

His dedication has not gone unnoticed - Brian has been nominated for multiple African renewable energy awards and has won most of them. Most recently, he was crowned the Young & Inspiring Professional of 2024.

On LinkedIn, Brian shares insights into the renewable energy landscape, project milestones, and thought-provoking discussions on clean cooking solutions. His posts offer a glimpse into his everyday work - from the wins to the challenges - his impact is clear. You cannot help but be inspired.
