Uganda accelerates e-mobility through locally produced electric buses

The race for greener rides is on, and Uganda’s not here to play! As Africa’s mobility sector evolves, Uganda is making big moves!

By 2040, they’re rolling out 15,000 electric buses, backed by over 10,000 fast chargers spread across 3,500 public charging spots. Big moves, right?

Leading the charge is Kiira Motors Corporation, the state-owned game-changer focused on producing electric buses, motorcycles, and cars right at home. With a production capacity of 20 buses a day, 7,200 units a year - a massive potential.

Why this is a vibe

This isn’t just about buses. Uganda’s plan to keep production local means jobs on jobs, think assembling vehicles, crafting batteries, and setting up or maintaining charging stations. Engineers, technicians, and innovators, your time is now.

As Uganda powers up its EV game, this sector looks like a place to be. The country is not just transforming its transport sector, it’s opening up exciting job opportunities.

Want to build a sustainable future and ride the wave of an industry blowing up? Keep your eyes on this one.
