In our quest to make job search even better and easier for you, we have introduced a new category for you - Projects watch.
One of the smartest job search strategies is this: follow the projects, not just the job boards.
Because before jobs are advertised, there is always a project.
Last month several projects were announced in the Renewables, Healthcare and circular economy sectors across Africa.
These projects have been approved, financed, or tendered.
Before the project begins, they will be hiring so take note of the companies mentioned.
Here is a list of projects currently underway or just announced across Africa:
Renewables
Scatec signs a major solar and battery storage agreement in Egypt. The project is led by Scatec under PPA with Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company. This is a multi-billion USD project and financial close is expected H2-2026, EPC and construction hiring likely from late-2026.
Tunisia approves a large wind and solar tender programme. The initiative is led by the Government of Tunisia covering 2 GW of wind and 350 MW of solar projects worth several billion USD, with developer selection expected during 2026 and hiring likely after contract awards.
Uganda seeks EPC contractors for a 5MW hydropower project. The project is being tendered by Maataa Energy and is currently in procurement stage, with construction and technical hiring expected through the selected EPC contractor once awarded.
Eskom issues tender for 17MW solar plant at Duvha Power Station. The project is managed by Eskom and involves utility-scale solar installation at an existing power facility, with EPC contractor hiring expected following tender award.
Innscor plans additional solar expansion in Zimbabwe. The rollout is being driven by Innscor Africa through a privately financed 25MW solar expansion, with engineering, installation and O&M hiring expected via contracted solar developers.
Botswana and KP Group sign a major renewable energy partnership. The programme is a collaboration between KP Group and the Government of Botswana targeting nearly 5GW of renewable capacity, representing a multi-billion USD pipeline with phased hiring across development, construction and training initiatives.
China invests in a medical device manufacturing plant in Morocco. The project is led by Jiangsu Aishelun Medical Technology Group and will be located at Mohammed VI Tangier Tech City, involving a €20 million investment with manufacturing and technical hiring expected once construction begins.
Healthcare
African Development Bank supports healthcare training and innovation in Rwanda. The programme is funded by the African Development Bank Group with a $33.64 million investment focused on strengthening health training institutions and workforce capacity through government and institutional hiring.
KOICA strengthens the malnutrition prevention programme in Ethiopia. The project is funded by Korea International Cooperation Agency and implemented with the World Food Programme, supporting nutrition supply chains and community-level health workforce expansion.
Global Fund launches matching funds to expand community health systems across Africa. The initiative is coordinated by the The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria through the Africa Frontline First Catalytic Fund, mobilising $15 million in matched funding to support training, supervision and pay for community health workers across multiple countries.
Circular economy
Eswatini strengthens the national toxic waste management programme. The initiative is led by the Government of Eswatini and focuses on hazardous waste infrastructure upgrades, regulatory enforcement and environmental management capacity building.
Ethiopia launches a sanitation and waste treatment project in Dhagax-buur. The $12.5 million project is implemented by the Somali Region Government in Dhagax-buur, with civil works underway and sanitation operations hiring expected through 2027.
