Gain the skills...without the bills

Fellowships that train you and pay you

Hey,

Welcome to Green Jobs Rising!

Still haven’t checked out our new website?👎💔

Checked it out already?👍🥳

Do you know there are so many ways to build up your career? You do not have to go through the traditional career ladder, now there is another way.

A way that involves you sharpening your skills and making you valuable.

The continent needs skilled professionals.

This week’s edition is for the doers.

We’ve found fully-funded programs that will train and sharpen you, and position you as a leader in Africa's green transition.

  • UNESCO AfriMAB–GRÓ LRT Fellowship (2026)

A fully funded six-month training in Iceland for young African professionals working in biosphere reserves. Fellows gain advanced skills in land restoration and sustainable resource management, earning a postgraduate diploma to take knowledge back home.

  • Stigler Center Journalists in Residence Program (2026)

A 12-week residency at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business for journalists worldwide. The program deepens reporting skills on political economy and business, with seminars, networking, and a $14,000 stipend.

  • Pulitzer Center Fellowships

A global hub for reporting grants and fellowships supporting underreported stories, The Network will establish a collaborative ecosystem of journalists around the world. Together, they will uncover the harmful and illegal practices of the fishing and extractive industries, systemic threats to marine biodiversity and coastal communities, and the supply chains facilitating global demand for the ocean’s increasingly dwindling resources.

  • Africa Fellowship for Young Energy Leaders (AFYEL)

A six-month program preparing the next generation of African innovators and professionals to drive the continent’s clean energy future. Fellows gain leadership training, mentorship, and a strong network to accelerate impact in the energy sector.

  • Echoing Green Fellowship (2026)

A full-time, 18-month fellowship backing bold social innovators building early-stage organizations to tackle systemic inequality. It supports visionary leaders committed to transforming their communities. Applications open September 17, 2025; in the meantime, you can register for a webinar to learn more.

  • Constellations Fellowship

A 12–14 week, fully remote fellowship connecting students and recent graduates to professional opportunities with leading climate organizations worldwide. Fellows gain hands-on career experience, mentorship, and a global network in the climate space.

That’s all for this week.

Don't count yourself out of these incredible opportunities, the people who run them are looking for passion as much as perfection.

All the best!

If we reimagine how we live and do business on the continent, we can actually turn this into an opportunity and not a crisis
