Falcon Energy Materials has started building a pilot graphite processing facility in Morocco’s Fluoralpha SA industrial zone. The project positions the company as a future supplier of battery-grade anode materials. With the plant’s development, opportunities are likely to open up in plant operations, engineering, logistics, and supply chain management.
Ampersand secures $7 million to expand its e-motorcycle fleet. EV company Ampersand raised $7 million from British International Investment to grow its motorcycle fleet in East Africa. This injection of capital will allow the company to scale faster, increasing access to clean and affordable transport solutions. As the fleet grows, new roles may arise in fleet management, charging infrastructure, mechanics, and customer support.
Joylong eyes EV van assembly in Africa. Chinese automaker Joylong is moving to assemble electric vans locally, with Kenya as an early market where public transport operators already use their vehicles. Already, dozens of Joylong vans are in operation with local public transport operators. This move signals the creation of local jobs in vehicle assembly, sales, maintenance, and after-sales service.
Kenya lands $169 million for EV mobility and grid upgrades. Kenya secured major funding for electric mobility and power grid improvements, strengthening its leadership in the region’s clean transport shift. The funding is expected to spark job creation in EV charging station development, power engineering, project management, and grid maintenance.
Nigeria launches EV training centre in Lagos. Nigeria has opened an automotive training hub at LASUSTECH to boost EV production, adoption, and workforce skills. The initiative is designed to accelerate EV adoption, boost local production, and enhance technology transfer in the automotive industry. This new centre will generate opportunities for trainers, technicians, and engineers eager to shape Nigeria’s electric vehicle future.
Uganda’s taxi union rolls out 4,000 e-bikes. The Boda Boda Riders Cooperative Union is distributing electric motorcycles on credit to riders across Uganda. The initiative makes it easier for drivers to access EVs without heavy upfront costs, expanding the market for electric mobility in the country. With this roll-out, jobs are likely to emerge in e-bike sales, maintenance, financing services, and rider training.
Chinese investors plan $720 million renewable projects in Katsina, Nigeria. A delegation of Chinese investors is exploring large-scale renewable energy and agriculture projects in Katsina State. Spearheaded by China Overseas Engineering Group, the investments could reshape the state’s economic landscape. These ventures are expected to create jobs in solar and wind farm construction, agritech innovation, and project management.
Mozambique approves $5 billion in investment projects. Mozambique has green-lit 115 investment projects worth $5 billion, expected to create 17,000 jobs, particularly in energy and infrastructure. Opportunities will likely span engineering, construction, renewable energy, and administrative roles, signalling a fresh wave of economic activity.
