MG's exciting green comeback

Chinese automaker SAIC Motors, which acquired MG in 2007, has just relaunched the iconic British brand with a fresh lineup. And get this - they’re going green with EVs! The MG4, their all-electric hatchback, is targeting the affordable side of the EV market. Depending on your region, you can choose between 51 kWh, 64 kWh, or 77 kWh battery packs, offering a range of 350 km to 530 km. Not bad, right?

Why is this a big deal?

Right now, they have 30 dealerships in South Africa, but they plan to expand to 60 by the end of 2025. They’re also aiming to sell 1,000 units per month across all their models. This comeback isn’t just about cars, it means more jobs too! Think sales, marketing, after-sales service, supply chain – all of it.

South Africa is a massive market, and MG's expansion along with the broader EV market in Africa presents numerous opportunities for young professionals. From engineering and manufacturing to marketing and infrastructure development, the growth of this sector is set to create a diverse array of jobs.

As the industry evolves, so will the job landscape. There's a growing need for skilled individuals to drive innovation and support the transition to sustainable transportation. We’re hyped about this and keeping our eyes on it - you should too!
