Dâures Green Hydrogen Village to produce green fertiliser

Namibia’s Dâures Green Hydrogen Village is gearing up to start producing ammonium sulphate fertiliser by late 2026 into early 2027. The goal? To supply local farmers in the Dâures constituency first, then scale up to reach international markets.

The project is rolling out in phases, starting with research and development, which is expected to wrap up in the first half of 2025. The next phases will ramp up production for export.

Why does this matter?
This initiative is powered by clean energy, around 0.88MW of solar and 0.1MW of wind, spread over a 300-hectare site. So far, it’s created about 400 jobs through eight green hydrogen projects in Namibia, including Dâures itself.

More than 100 people from the Dâures constituency have already been hired, and the village has committed to sourcing at least 50% of its workforce locally. On top of that, 30% of construction contracts are going to local SMEs, giving the community a real stake in this green transformation.

And there’s more to come.
As the project scales up, even more green jobs are on the horizon, from renewable energy technicians to agritech specialists, construction workers to logistics teams. Hey! From farms to future tech, this project’s got career paths waiting to be walked. Are you ready?
