Not another AI-generated CV

HR tips for crafting an application that doesn’t scream ChatGPT

Hey,

Welcome to Green Jobs Rising!

ChatGPT reportedly handles about 2.5 billion prompts per day globally and has nearly 800 million weekly active users as of 2025.

Some estimates place daily visits at around 122.6 million users worldwide.

With the rise of AI, life has become easier, but recruiters say they are tired of seeing hundreds of almost identical CVs.

So, how can job seekers use AI effectively?

Goretti Akombe, HR at Soko Fresh, offers valuable insights on using AI for job applications. She explains:

AI is a great tool, especially for refining your writing or helping you sound professional. But you must start with your own ideas.

Think about what you’re trying to communicate first.

For example, if you tell ChatGPT, “Create a CV for an HR job,” it will generate a very generic one, similar to what many others will produce.

To stand out, you should:

  • First, note down your own thoughts and achievements.

  • Study the job description carefully.

  • Identify the key skills and keywords from the JD.

  • Use AI to tailor your CV to that specific role.

Each job deserves a customised CV.

Even if you’ve been in HR for years, adjust your CV for each application so that it aligns with the employer’s needs.

AI works on the principle of GIGO “garbage in, garbage out.”

If your prompt is vague, your result will be basic. But if your input is detailed and thoughtful, AI can produce a strong, specific CV. For quick tips check out this video by my colleague Risper.

Use AI as an assistant, not a replacement for your thinking.
