What is your advice to young professionals entering the job market?

It might sound harsh, but that’s the reality, especially early on. Recruiters usually deal with a high volume of applicants, so they’re scanning for reasons to narrow the list. That means even small mistakes can cost you the opportunity. 

Later in your career, things change. When you’re being headhunted, the tables turn, now it’s the recruiter’s job to sell you on the opportunity. But at the entry level, the numbers game is real, and the bar is high. So, your best move? Make it easy for the recruiter to say yes. Tailor your application, show that you understand the company and role, and highlight what makes you a great fit.
