One Acre Fund is a social enterprise that supplies smallholder farmers in East Africa with asset-based financing, farm supplies, and agriculture training services.
As part of their mission to reduce hunger and poverty, they are hiring a Tech Tools Intern in Kigali, Rwanda. This role supports the field operations team by ensuring field staff have access to well-functioning tablets and receive timely technical support. You’ll contribute directly to their mission by maintaining critical hardware, helping field teams use digital tools effectively, and supporting training and process improvement.
This internship is part of One Acre Fund’s Young Professionals Program, offering high-performing graduates paid internships, mentorship, and career-building opportunities in social impact.
Let’s break down the role
This is an IT role, your responsibilities include tablet support and maintenance, capacity building, configuration and process improvement. Therefore, you must possess the following:
A bachelor’s degree in IT or any related field. Always double check to see if your course content aligns before disqualifying yourself.
3-6 months of hands-on experience managing or supporting tech interventions. If you’ve been on attachment or worked on campus projects, you are in luck, that counts, you are a strong candidate.
Experience building simple tools using Python, JavaScript, or low-code platforms.
Understanding of Rwanda’s geography and logistics. You should be able to map how tech equipment moves efficiently across districts.
Practical skills in tablet setup, MDM configuration, and managing large tech fleets.
Ability to train non-technical users and troubleshoot effectively, even when supporting large teams.
Experience with data tools like Excel (can manage complex spreadsheets), Power BI, or SQL.
