Hey,
Welcome to Green Jobs Rising!
As 2025 winds down, companies are still expanding, and that’s a strong signal that hiring is far from slowing down across the green sector.
This week’s signals cover new partnerships and fresh funding, the kinds of moves that usually create jobs directly and indirectly, opening up work for suppliers, contractors, service providers and more.
Heading into 2026, the outlook stays hopeful as more projects shift from announcements to execution.
Here are the signals we’re tracking across Africa:
EF Motors plans a new EV assembly plant in Nigeria, targeting 5,000 direct jobs and over 20,000 indirect jobs.
This Imo State EV assembly plant could spark jobs from day one through construction, then technicians, quality teams, warehouse staff, and administration teams to run operations. The bigger ripple comes from suppliers, logistics, dealerships, and maintenance and charging services growing around the plant, especially as hybrid assembly ramps up by Q1 2026.
KG Mobility to set up a CKD assembly plant in Algeria with Emin Auto
A CKD plant creates jobs beyond the assembly line, including customs handling, inbound logistics, factory roles, and nationwide distribution. If production reaches 10,000 units a year from 2026, it can gradually attract local suppliers and strengthen the auto ecosystem.
India’s EKA Mobility to establish an EV manufacturing and assembly plant in Ghana
Local manufacturing for electric three-wheelers, buses, and commercial vehicles can create factory jobs while growing fleet sales, driver training, servicing, and charging partnerships. Because it targets both Ghana and export markets, it also expands work in trade and regional logistics.
BAIC South Africa to begin assembling B30 off-road SUVs in Eastern Cape from January (2026)
Starting SUV assembly in the Eastern Cape can boost factory hiring and strengthen the supplier chain through components, transport, dealerships, and after-sales support. Over time, it also builds demand for skilled trades like fitters, electricians, and quality inspectors.
EKA Mobility and Kerchanshe Group partner to distribute, assemble, and service EVs in East Africa
A planned assembly facility in Ethiopia plus wider distribution and service networks means jobs in plant operations and in workshops for mechanics and electricians, alongside roles in parts, sales, and fleet support. As coverage spreads across the region, logistics and technician training roles grow with it.
Egypt’s IDG launches $101 million industrial park, projecting jobs
Industrial parks create a first wave of construction jobs, then longer-term roles as factories move in such as operations, engineering, security, warehousing, and logistics. With space for many factories, it can also pull in SMEs that provide maintenance, packaging, and transport, supporting over 10,000 jobs overall.
Egypt advances $15 billion South Sinai solar and wind project targeting 10 GW clean power
Large solar and wind projects hire heavily during construction through civil works, electrical installation, and grid connection, then shift into stable operations roles like technicians and monitoring teams. Reliable clean power can also attract new industries that create additional jobs.
Sun King secures $1.2 million grant to expand electric cooking in Zambia
Scaling electric cooking typically grows last-mile distribution, retail partnerships, field technicians for installation and servicing, and customer support. It also creates work in local logistics and payment support as adoption increases
While we keep an eye on companies quietly expanding, here are some exciting opportunities that are already open. Click below to explore and apply for the role that best fits your skills and goals.
