Morocco’s green hydrogen leap

Across Africa, the green hydrogen industry is gaining momentum, bringing billions in investment and thousands of job opportunities. Each of these new projects will receive 30,000 hectares, driving the production of green steel, green ammonia, and synthetic fuels, which are key to the clean energy revolution. As part of this, six new projects worth $32.5 billion have been approved across three southern regions.

Why does it matter? Here’s the best part: This surge in clean energy is expected to create 30,000 jobs in the rapidly growing sector. These new positions form part of Morocco’s broader strategy to generate 300,000 jobs across industries such as decarbonisation, electric mobility, and sustainable manufacturing. According to the government, job creation in the green hydrogen sector will account for around 10% of Morocco’s workforce needs.
