How MOPO is helping Africa transition to a more sustainable future

👋Welcome to Green Jobs Rising. As climate change continues to impact the world on a massive scale, major industry players are racing to find sustainable solutions. Today, we explore the expansion of MOPO, a UK-based company focused on renewable energy, providing batteries for homes, businesses, and electric vehicles across Africa. Let’s dive in. 🤿😎

As the world races toward a greener future, battery swapping is already possible, and it’s happening near you right now!
A major player in this space, MOPO, a battery technology company, just secured $7 million in financing from British International Investment to expand its coverage in Africa, particularly in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
MOPO specialises in sustainable energy solutions through pay-per-use battery rentals. The company provides batteries for homes, businesses, and electric vehicles (EVs), offering a lifeline to communities struggling with unstable or non-existent grid infrastructure. It currently operates in Nigeria, DRC, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Chad, and Uganda.
Why Does This Matter?
This move is set to revolutionise access to sustainable energy for millions of urban and rural households and businesses across Africa. With 43% of Africa’s total population lacking access to electricity, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa, the demand for alternative energy solutions has never been greater.
Why Is This a Vibe?
Hello! Business expansion = job opportunities. The newly secured funding is expected to triple MOPO’s service capacity in the DRC within the next 12 months, aiming to reach over a million people.
So, keep an eye on this space - battery services are booming, and this is just the beginning.🚀
